Paul cut his pensions teeth at the West Midlands Pension Fund , where he held a variety of senior roles focusing on administration and communications. During this time he obtained professional qualifications in payroll and pensions and developed a thorough understanding of industry best practice and how to achieve it. Paul was also the driving force behind the multiple industry awards won by the Fund in the 1990s.
In 2000, Paul moved to Diageo , where he first worked with Steve Mingle and used his experience to great effect in streamlining and improving the service provided by the administration team and greatly enhancing the quality of their pensions communication. Again, this resulted in numerous prestigious industry awards. Later, Paul’s role broadened to incorporate global pensions strategy & policy, including benefit design and scheme governance. He also took a leading role in the development of web-based member communication and self-service tools. In 2004/05 Paul implemented a series of UK pensions changes, including the introduction of an innovative new cash balance pension plan.
Paul and Steve were reunited when Paul moved to RHM in 2005, where he overhauled their pensions administration and communication procedures, and used his broader experience to develop a payroll outsourcing strategy and took the lead on the resulting HR change management project.
Since setting up Isinglass Consulting in 2007 , Paul has played a leading role in a number of major projects , including scheme mergers; DC asset transitions; implementation of new benefit structures for both DB and DC clients; procurement of best practice administration and communication services; Governance reviews and systems implementations. He has also become an expert in all aspects of auto-enrolment, including impact analysis, development of pension strategy and HR/Payroll/Pensions and administration solutions.
Away from work, Paul has a diverse range of interests, including writing and recording music . Paul formed Stonesfield Strikers Youth Football Club in 2008 and is Chairman of the club. He is passionate about grassroots football and is a licenced FA coach.
